Power flush in Ealing

The job

The customer got in touch about banging and crashing noises coming from their Vaillant combination boiler. The noises had become loud enough to be worrying, and they wanted it looked at before it turned into something bigger. We went out to the property in Ealing to investigate. Noise like that is very often down to what is circulating through the boiler rather than a fault with the appliance itself, so we checked the condition of the water in the heating system first. In this case the system water quality was poor, and that was what needed dealing with.

What we did

We recommended a power flush of the boiler and the radiators. A power flush circulates water through the system with specialist chemicals added, breaking down and carrying out the sludge and debris that builds up inside radiators and pipework over the years. We used a Kamco power flushing machine along with Kamco chemicals, working through the boiler and each radiator in turn so the whole system was cleaned rather than just part of it. The job took about half a day from setting up to packing away.

The result

The boiler is running quietly again and the banging and crashing noises are gone. Cleaning up the system water does more than deal with the noise. Poor water quality is a common cause of breakdowns and leaks, and it can invalidate a manufacturer warranty, so sorting it protects the boiler as well as the radiators.
